Afra Çalık is a graduate of Sakarya University's Nursing program, and completed her master's and doctoral degrees at Hacettepe University. During her doctoral studies, she conducted academic research and projects in the serious game and gamification fields. She evaluated the effectiveness of a serious game she developed for nursing students in her doctoral thesis. She currently works at Süleyman Demirel University. For the past three years, she has been a volunteer for Gamfed Turkey and continues to engage in gamification activities as a project captain. She serves as the Vice President of the Technology, Gamification and Education Association (TOYED), the first gamification association established in Turkey. She provides training and seminars on game design, gamification, innovative education approaches in healthcare and nursing education, and mentors at game jams and hackathons. • She was a finalist in the Education Technologies category at TEKNOFEST 2023. • She has been invited to speak at the Serious Play Conference 2023, the largest event in the world focused on serious games. • Her first serious game article for nursing students, which was published in the Games for Health Journal, earned her a special award from the Rosalind Franklin Society Special Award in Science in 2022. • She supported the Summer Game Camp 22 held at the Bilişim Vadisi as a mentor. • She actively participates in Erasmus plus projects. • She works as an educator at the first Metaverse Entrepreneurship Studio opened at Süleyman Demirel University in Turkey.
